This series of mixed media pictures draws directly from the source (or sauce?). While working at deeneys street food stall at Broadway Market I was captivated by the discoloured weather beaten notepad pages used by a number of staff members over the past year or so to jot down customers names and food orders.

Something about this book. The hundreds of names, the different hand writing styles (some of mine too), the mustard and grease stained yellowed pages, the spelling mistakes, the fuck ups but also the good times shared with new and old faces etc etc, all kind of represent to me at least my experience working on the market for the past few years. As well as the pages conveniently being like, visually pleasing to me for some reason.

So I have created a number of drawings based off of some of the colourful characters you might see down the market in Hackney; using the notepad pages as a backdrop, a little glimpse of the bts of the market trader life.
